What We Do

The Little Arkansas Chapter of the DAR is a vibrant organization that serves Valley Center, Maize, Goddard, Cheney and northwest Wichita.

Below are a few of the Little Arkansas DAR projects:

Dogs for Vets

Service DogOur Veterans are retuning from war with visible and invisible wounds. Service dogs help them to reconnect with families and society. We are working with organizations that raise and train dogs free of charge to our veterans to improve their quality of life and restore independence.

Scout Merit Badges

merit badgeOur chapter hosts Genealogy Merit Badge sessions for the Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops across western Sedgwick County, helping them to get in touch with who they are and where they came from. We teach the scouts how to use online resources to document their family tree, research their ancestors, and help them complete their merit badge requirements.

Blessing Bags

Womens Vet DonationsThe Little Arkansas Chapter made backpack bags for homeless women veterans and filled them with feminine care items, note pads and pens, socks, scarves and hats, gift cards, and information about health care and other assistance programs available through the Veterans Administration.
